Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Nagios Specialist with hands-on experience in NagiosXI, Nagios Core, Nagios Log Server, Nagios Network Analyzer, and Nagios Fusion. The ideal candidate will have a strong Linux administration background and proven expertise in monitoring, log management, and network analysis. You will be responsible for designing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Nagios-based monitoring solutions to ensure infrastructure stability, performance, and security.
Key Responsibilities & Expected Configuration Knowledge
- Install, configure, and manage NagiosXI, Nagios Core, Nagios Log Server, Network Analyzer, and Fusion.
- Design and implement infrastructure monitoring solutions for servers, applications, databases, and network devices.
- Configure custom checks, plugins, alerts, and dashboards tailored to business needs.
- Maintain and optimize Nagios performance, scalability, and high availability.
- Integrate Nagios with ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow) and alerting tools (e.g., email, Teams, Slack, OpsGenie, PagerDuty).
- Implement and manage log aggregation and analysis using Nagios Log Server.
- Perform network traffic analysis and security monitoring using Nagios Network Analyzer.
- Ensure centralized monitoring through Nagios Fusion for multiple instances.
- Automate monitoring tasks using shell scripting, Python, or Ansible.
- Troubleshoot performance issues and provide L2/L3 support for monitoring incidents.
- Document configurations, processes, and provide knowledge transfer/training to internal teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in monitoring solutions with a focus on NagiosXI, Nagios Core, Log Server, Network Analyzer, and Fusion.
- Strong background in Linux administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar).
- Proficiency in monitoring concepts, SNMP, NRPE/NRDP, APIs, and custom plugin development.
- Experience in log management, event correlation, and alerting mechanisms.
- Familiarity with network monitoring, packet capture, and bandwidth analysis.
- Hands-on with automation tools (Ansible, Bash, Python) for monitoring tasks.
- Understanding of ITIL practices for incident, change, and problem management.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Relevant certifications in Nagios, Linux, or DevOps tools will be a plus.
