Success Stories
Migration and Consolidation of Server & Cloud instances to a single cloud site
Industry Logistics

Client’s Overview
The team aimed to consolidate their Atlassian stack instances of Jira and Confluence into a single cloud instance. The project encompassed migrating data from the Jira server and Confluence server to the Atlassian Cloud, as well as merging Jira and Confluence Cloud instances and another Jira Cloud instance into the same cloud environment. This ambitious migration was driven by the need to support continuous operations, leverage advanced features, and ensure long-term support as Atlassian's server products approached their end of life. The below diagram provides an overall migration requirement picture.
Business Challenges
Since Atlassian servers were coming to end of life, the client wanted to move to cloud services for continued support and better features and services. Below are some points that the client faced difficulty with:
- Data Migration from Version One to JIRA: Evaluating the currently installed plugins and determining their availability and migration path to the cloud.
- Third-Party Integration Support: Addressing the end of support for third-party application integrations on server versions.
- Email Domain Changes: Managing the changes in email domains for a large user base during the migration process.
- Migration Assistant Bugs: Overcoming bugs in the migration assistant that affected the test migration
- Filters & Dashboards: Ensuring that all filters and dashboards were available in the cloud version post-migration.
- Uniform Tracking Tool: Establishing a uniform tracking tool across the organization level to enhance project management.
- Data Consolidation: Consolidating one server instance and two cloud instances into a single cloud site without any data loss and within the planned timeline
